Saint Cyril of Alexandria, born around 376 AD, served as the Patriarch of Alexandria from 412 to 444 AD. He is renowned for his theological writings and his vigorous defense of the doctrine of the Incarnation, particularly his role in affirming the title 'Theotokos' (God-bearer) for the Virgin Mary during the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD.
