Patron Saint of Migrants

A prayer for this intention

For safe journeys

O God, as we face the challenges of our journey, we recognize that we are not alone. You led Abraham through a blazing and harsh desert towards a promise, a land he could claim through faith alone. You guided your chosen people, the foreshadowing of your Church, away from oppression to a promised land, one not easily attained and requiring steadfast justice and the bold pursuit of freedom. You sent your Son, Jesus Christ, with humble disciples, toward Jerusalem, where their hopes of an earthly kingdom faded as he suffered a criminal's death on the cross. Yet, in his resurrection and glory lies our sole assurance of life. May your Spirit inspire us as we set forth on our paths, whether to familiar workplaces or unknown places fraught with danger, to visit the ill, or to find the rest we seek. Guide us in our longing for meaning, tranquility, and love. Instill in us a genuine desire to serve those we encounter on our way to our eternal meeting with you. Strengthen us, fill our vision with hope, and ignite our hearts with compassion for others. Lift us if we stumble, encourage us when we hesitate, and embrace us at the end of our journey with the fatherly love that awaits all who earnestly strive to fulfill your holy will. Amen.
