A Daily Prayer Before Daily Mass

O gracious Lord Jesus Christ, even though I am a sinner and have no claim on my own merits, I place all my confidence in your kindness and mercy. Yet as I approach the table where your delightful feast is laid out, I feel fear and trepidation. My sins have tainted my body and spirit because I failed to control my thoughts and guard my speech. Nevertheless, I turn to you, O God of majesty and love, in my need, for you are the source of mercy. I come to you as quickly as I can, for only you can heal me; I seek refuge under your care. I cannot stand before you as my judge, but I cling to you as my savior. Your mercy surpasses all your works. Though I fear because of my transgressions, I rely on you because of your compassion. Look upon me, O Jesus Christ, our eternal king and Lord, who is both God and man, and who was crucified for our sake. Have mercy on me, despite my misery and sin, for I find my only hope in you, grounded in your loving kindness. Hail to you, my saving victim, sacrificed for me and all humanity upon the cross! Hail to you, glorious and precious blood that flows from the wounds of Jesus Christ, my crucified Lord, cleansing the sins of the entire world! Do not forget, O Lord, that I am one of those you have fashioned and redeemed with your own blood. I repent of my sins and resolve to change my ways. O most merciful Father, remove all my iniquities and offenses so that, healed by you in body and spirit, I may be worthy to approach the Holy of Holies. Lastly, grant that the holy sample of your body and blood, which you graciously give to me, a poor sinner, may serve as a guarantee of the full pardon of my sins and the everlasting cleansing of all my guilt. May it drive away every sinful thought from my mind; may it inspire all holy desires in my will; may it motivate me to perform works that please you; and may it be, in both body and soul, a strong shield and defense against the schemes of all my adversaries.Amen.
