A Prayer For After Mass

I give You my heartfelt thanks, O Lord, most holy, Almighty Father, eternal God, for having graciously allowed, not through any worth of my own, but solely through Your infinite mercy, to satisfy the longings of my soul with the precious body and blood of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. With humility, I beseech You, let this sacred communion not lead to an increase of guilt for my punishment, but serve instead as a fervent appeal for forgiveness and salvation. May it serve as my armor of faith and shield of goodwill. May it purge my heart of all evil; may it conquer my wicked passions and wild desires. May it strengthen me in love and patience, in humility and obedience, and in every other virtue. May it be my unwavering defense against the traps set for me by my foes, both seen and unseen. May it hold back and calm my sinful drives, enabling me to cling evermore to You, the one true God. May it lead to a peaceful conclusion of my days. And do grant, O heavenly Father, that one day You call me, a sinner, to that unimaginable feast, where You, with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, are the true and unfailing light for Your saints, the fullness of joy, eternal delight, untainted gladness, and everlasting happiness.
