A Prayer For May First

O God, on this special day, dedicated through the ages to honoring Mary, the Mother of Your Divine Son, we ask You to gaze upon us, Your children gathered here, along with the countless others who are uniting in different places across America, to lift up prayers for the people of Russia and for all those living under the influence of Communism. We beseech You that these, our siblings in Christ, currently held captive by those opposed to the Savior, may soon experience the complete liberation to embrace the human rights and personal freedoms that come from You alone. We express our gratitude, O heavenly Father, for the wisdom bestowed upon our Founding Fathers in acknowledging that "all men" from every nation "are endowed by their Creator with unalienable rights," and for their early realization that the foremost goal of governance is to protect these Divine rights for even the least among us. Grant us, O God, the strength to share with "all men" our legacy, the invaluable blessings of authentic freedom. We pray earnestly for those misguided individuals who propagate animosity towards You and Your children across all lands. May we receive enlightenment and strength from the Holy Spirit, always remembering to "not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21); that we may fully grasp the profound lesson of Your Incarnate Son: "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). Inspire us, O God, with genuine compassion for all people, especially those who endure suffering and persecution; teach us to go forth in Your name, as bearers of Christ, spreading love where there is enmity, infusing Christian values into the shadows of error; help us, for Your honor and Glory, to renew the face of the earth. Grant us the resolve to stand firm where truth and justice are challenged. May we serve You as reflections of Christ through our prayers and good deeds, bringing into every aspect of life the only truth that can liberate, the only love that encompasses all humanity, the only peace that endures forever. Please listen to our heartfelt plea, almighty God, that we, Your sons and daughters, despite our many shortcomings, may become worthy vessels of Your peace and messengers of Your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord.Amen.
