A Prayer For Perfect Trust

O my loving God, grant me the serenity that comes from complete trust in You; an unwavering faith that stands firm without doubt as I believe that You know what is truly best for me. It is best even when my plans fall apart; it is best even when the journey is challenging; it is best even when my material possessions seem few; for in You, I find sufficiency. It is best even if my health and vitality fade, when long, tiring days lie ahead of me, excluded from the abundance that others enjoy; not my desire, Lord, but Yours be done! Even when disappointments arise, they are also for my good, drawing me away from this transient world and bringing me closer to You. O for the tranquility of a perfect trust that turns its gaze away from all distractions, that recognizes Your hand in every situation, whether significant or trivial. That listens to Your voice — a Father speaking gently — guiding me toward the best path. O for the blessing of a perfect trust, a heart resting in You.
