A Prayer For Surviving Friends

We implore You, O Lord, that as we mourn the loss of Your servant, we might always keep in mind that we too will inevitably follow him. Grant us the strength to live righteously, preparing ourselves for our final moments, so that we are not caught off guard by a sudden passing, but remain vigilant. When You call us, may we rise to meet the Bridegroom and enter into everlasting glory with Him. Through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. O most wise and compassionate Lord, who has made this life a journey to the next, assigning our chance for repentance to our time here and holding the consequences of our choices for the afterlife; grant us, who are still living and have the chance for reconciliation with You, the grace to diligently oversee our actions and correct even the slightest deviation from the true path to heaven. Let us not be taken by surprise with our sins unresolved or our responsibilities unmet. When our earthly bodies are laid to rest, may our souls rise to be with You and dwell eternally in the joy of Your presence. Through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.Amen.
