A Prayer For The Wheat

Heavenly Father, throughout the vast lands of our nation, the wheat is flourishing. Some stands young and vibrant, some has begun to mature, and soon, it will all be beautifully golden. Much of this harvest, dear Jesus, will nourish those in need. In countless loaves and cereals, it will grace tables in cities and rural areas across the globe. Part of this wheat will serve at a sacred table. It will be milled into flour, transformed into hosts, the altar bread for the Holy Mass. Priests, with consecrated hands, will speak the words of blessing, and ordinary bread will no longer be. It will instead be the Bread of angels. Though it appears unchanged, we know and believe it becomes your Body and Blood, your Soul and Divinity, Lord Jesus Christ, truly present under the guise of bread. O Jesus, please bless the expansive, fertile wheat fields of our land. Shield them from hail and harsh storms, from decay and rust, from turbulent winds and drought. May they yield abundantly, so the hungry can be fed, and may they give You praise and thanks as fitting. And may all the Holy Masses celebrated with hosts made from this wheat bring closer the time when there will be ample workers in Your harvest, which is ready now, awaiting only to be brought home.Amen.
