A Prayer In A Country Cemetery

Gracious Lord, here rest in peace, the children and youth, the men and women who toiled on these lands. They understood the value of diligent work. They experienced the joy and tranquility that come from their efforts. We now hope they share in the joy and serenity of eternal life with You. They often witnessed the sunrise, in both winter and summer, across these hills and fields. They labored under its glow, and willingly turned to rest as the sun set. Now they walk in the light of a Sun that never sets. Lord, if they remain in the waiting area of heaven, in purgatory, bring them swiftly to the illuminating peace and joy of Your presence. These men and women dedicated their lives to providing the food and drink essential for sustaining life. Now, or soon, they partake in the fullness of the life that You, Lord, came to share with humanity, and to give abundantly. Loving Lord, bless us who now labor in the fields and hills where these beloved departed had once worked. Help us to remember them with love and generosity, walking faithfully in the paths they have left behind. May we also hope to reunite with these men and women, these children and youths, in the everlasting dwellings that You are even now preparing for us.Amen.
