A Prayer In Winter
Gracious Lord, as the warmth of summer fades and the season has turned, we recognize that the harvest has also passed. The abundance and glow of the sun’s light are now beautifully preserved in seeds, fruits, and vegetables, safely stored away in bins, cribs, and cellars. We express our gratitude, beloved and generous God, for Your countless blessings and gifts. Throughout the summer, You have worked tirelessly for our benefit, enriching the fields and forests with health, warmth, and sustenance. In this cold season, when the earth offers little, we depend on the provisions gathered during summer and harvest. Thank You for Your endless kindness, dear God. Guide us to wisely utilize the treasures the earth provides, cultivating a spirit of generosity akin to Your own, and lead us away from selfishness and greed. Additionally, assist us in accumulating spiritual wealth during the abundant days of our lives while there is still time to act. Otherwise, the autumn of life will arrive, death will summon us, and a spiritual winter will envelop us, leaving us destitute not just for a season but for the eternities to come. Lord, we place our trust in You, believing that by cooperating with Your abundant graces, we can make the most of our blessed opportunities. May we then reap a bountiful spiritual harvest that we will share with You and Your saints in the everlasting spring and summer of heaven.Amen.
