A Prayer To Jesus, My Friend

Jesus! You are indeed my faithful Friend, my only Friend. You share in all my sorrows; You take them upon Yourself; You have the power to transform them into joys. You listen with such compassion as I share my struggles, and You always have a soothing remedy for my pain. I find You always; I encounter You everywhere; You never leave me: even when I move, I discover You by my side wherever I go. You never grow tired of hearing my heart's burdens, nor do You ever tire of showering me with Your goodness. I am assured of Your love for me, provided that I truly love You; my possessions mean little to You, and in giving me Yours, You never diminish. No one, no matter how noble, wise, or sanctified, can come between us and take away Your friendship; even death, which separates us from all other companions, will bind me to You eternally. The humiliations that come with aging or the loss of dignity will never drive You away; in fact, I will find greater joy in You and feel Your closeness most acutely when the world seems set against me to drag me low. You endure all my faults with remarkable patience; my unfaithfulness and ingratitude do not sadden You to such an extent that You would refuse to welcome me back upon my return. O Jesus, please grant that I may pass from this life into the next while praising You, loving You, and giving my life entirely for love of You.Amen.
