A Prayer To Say Before The Holy Mass

Lord Jesus Christ, I approach your table with reverence and trepidation, recognizing my sinfulness. I cannot trust in my own merits but solely in your boundless goodness and mercy. My body and soul are marred by numerous sins, as are my careless thoughts and words. Gracious God, full of majesty and reverence, I seek your safeguarding and your healing touch. As a troubled sinner, I turn to you, the source of all mercy. I fear your judgment, yet I place my trust in your salvation. Before you, Lord, I reveal my wounds and lay bare my shame. Aware of my many and grave sins, I tremble, but I cling to the hope found in your infinite mercies. Lord Jesus Christ, eternal king, both divine and human, crucified for all, I ask you to gaze upon me with compassion and hear my heartfelt plea, for my confidence is in you. Have mercy on me, burdened with sorrow and sin, for your compassionate depths are unending. I offer praise to you, my saving sacrifice, offered on the cross for me and all humanity. Praise to the invaluable and holy blood pouring from your wounds, cleansing the sins of the entire world. Remember your servant, whom you redeemed with your blood; I repent for my sins and earnestly wish to amend my faults. Merciful Father, remove all my transgressions and cleanse me in body and spirit, making me worthy to partake in the holy of holies. May your body and blood, which I wish to receive despite my unworthiness, become for me the forgiveness of my sins, the purification of my guilt, the cessation of my evil thoughts, and the rebirth of my virtuous instincts. Let it inspire me to perform deeds pleasing to you, fostering my health in both body and spirit, and offer me a strong defense against my adversaries.Amen.
