Act Of Humility Before Holy Communion
He, who judges both the living and the dead, draws near to me. Before Him, the heavens tremble, and the holy angels cover their faces with their wings. Where can I escape from His presence? I find security in two places: within my own misery and in the Heart of my Judge. In these, I will seek refuge. O my God, I regret all the sins I have committed throughout my life as they offend You. In particular, I feel remorse for the wrongs I have done against this sacrament — through my lack of reverence and the minimal benefit I have gained from frequent communions, along with my carelessness in protecting my senses, especially my tongue, which has often been sanctified by Your Divine Presence. My Lord and my God, I am overcome with confusion seeing myself so unworthy to approach Your holy altar. Allow me, dear Jesus, to find healing for my afflictions in the wound of Your sacred Heart. Let Your sacred Heart be for me like the purifying coal that touched the lips of Isaiah; I implore You, dear Lord, to place it, aflame with love, upon my heart, my tongue, my senses, and all my soul's faculties, that it may consume everything that displeases You. Jesus, be my Savior, for You taught us, "The Son of Man has come to seek and save the lost" (Luke 19:10). Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the ill do. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners (Matt 9:13). My dear Lord, I am in need; I am a sinner, as You know. Come to me and declare, "I am your salvation" (Psalm 34:3). Grant me, O Lord, the grace to begin anew, to live fervently, and kindly bestow upon me in this holy sacrament the assurance of eternal life promised to those who worthily receive You.Amen.
