Adoro Te Devote By St. Thomas Aquinas

devotional
The prayer

O hidden God, I humbly venerate You, Who are truly present within the elements set before me; I bow my heart and kneel in reverence, For I struggle to fully grasp Your essence. Jesus, eternal Shepherd! Hear our plea; Strengthen the faith of all who depend on You. In You, sight, touch, and taste can mislead; Only the ear trusts most reliably: I accept all that the Son of God has proclaimed, For there is no surer sign than the truth of His word. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You. On the cross, God concealed Himself from sight; Yet here, both divinity and humanity remain hidden; And in acknowledging both, I profess my faith, Making the same petition as the penitent thief. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You. I do not see Your wounds, as Thomas did; Nevertheless, I acknowledge You as my Lord and God; Grant me a deeper belief in You always; In You, I find my hope, in You, my love. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You. O living memory of our Lord’s sacrifice! O bread of life, nourishing us mortals! Let my soul henceforth live in union with You, Ever granting a taste of heavenly sweetness. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You. O compassionate Pelican! O Jesus, my Lord! Though filthy I may be, cleanse me with Your blood! A single drop, shed for sinners, Can cleanse the entire world from all its sin. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You. Jesus, whom I now see veiled, Grant me what my soul longs for; That I may behold Your face revealed, And rejoice in Your glory as I see You. Hail Jesus, Shepherd of the faithful; Increase the faith of all who believe in You.
