Firefighter's Prayer

As I respond to the call of duty, Lord, wherever the flames may be, grant me the strength to rescue a life, regardless of its age. Help me to reach a little child before it's too late, or to save an elder from the terror of such an end. Make me vigilant and attuned to the faintest cry, so that I can promptly and effectively extinguish the fire. I wish to fulfill my vocation, to give my utmost, to safeguard my friends and neighbors, and to protect their belongings. And if it is Your will that I must face death's call, may Your protective hand bless my family and loved ones.
