Mother Teresa of Calcutta Novena - Day 1

intercession
The prayer

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Memorare: Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen (mention request here…) Mother’s Devotion to Satisfying the Thirst of Jesus: The words “I Thirst,” that Jesus spoke from the cross, appear next to the crucifix on the wall of every chapel in every convent all over the world of the Missionaries of Charity, the order founded by Mother Teresa to care for the poorest of the poor. Mother spoke and wrote again and again of Jesus’ thirst for souls, for repentance, for belief, for love. Love of God and also of neighbor, especially those neighbors who are poor or sick or abandoned or orphaned…those people who need it the most. “Why does Jesus say I Thirst? What does it mean?…If you remember anything from Mother’s letter remember this – I Thirst is something much deeper than Jesus just saying I love you. Until you know deep inside that Jesus thirsts for you – you can’t begin to know who He wants to be for you. Or who He wants you to be for Him.” Prayer: Father, thank you for the reminder from Mother Teresa that Jesus still thirsts today, for our hearts and souls and for all those who need him so much in this world. Through her intercession may we be drawn closer to His sacred heart and draw others there with us as well. Amen In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Amen.
