Mother Teresa of Calcutta Novena - Day 5
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Memorare: Remember, O Most Gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known, that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen (mention request here…) Mother’s Devotion to Forming Holy Families: Mother noted more than once that there is a different kind of poverty in the more developed and economically advantaged countries of the world. “I was surprised in the West to see so many young boys and girls given into drugs, and I tried to find out why…Because there is no one in the family to receive them Father and mother are so busy they have no time…The child goes back to the street and gets involved in something…These are things that break peace.” Mother saw that families need to be together. She talked fondly of her mother welcoming her father home each night with a smile. She stated that children needed to be taught to pray and families should pray together. She spoke often of the elderly who had food and housing but no one coming to visit and show them love. In fact, when Mother Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize, she was asked, “What can we do to promote world peace?” She answered “Go home and love your family.” Prayer: Father, you inspired Mother Teresa to work to preserve and improve family life all over the world. May your Spirit help us build strong and faithful families all over the world, where all members know that they are loved and know Jesus. May we never be so focused on the things of this world, as noble and necessary though they may be, that we forget to Go home and love our family. Amen In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.Amen.
