New Year's Prayer

O Almighty and everlasting God, through Jesus Christ, you have made your glory known to all peoples. We ask you to sustain the works of your mercy, so that your Church, which extends across the globe, may persevere in unwavering faith as it professes your name. We beseech you, the only source of goodness and holiness, to grant our Chief Bishop, Pope John Paul II, the vicar of our Lord Jesus Christ, with divine wisdom, true zeal, and a holy life as he guides your Church; as well as our Archbishop and Bishop, all bishops, prelates, and pastors, especially those appointed to fulfill the sacred duties of ministry among us and lead your people towards salvation. We implore you, O God of strength, wisdom, and justice, through whom authority is exercised, laws are made, and judgment is served, to support the President of the United States with your holy spirit of guidance and strength. May his administration operate with righteousness and be greatly beneficial to your people, fostering respect for virtue and religion, faithfully executing the laws in truth and compassion, and curbing vice and immorality. Wisdom and sound judgment belong to me; understanding and strength are mine. It is by me that kings govern and rulers enact just laws; through me, nobles rule and all who hold authority on earth. Let your divine light guide the decisions made in Congress, illuminating every action and legislation framed for our governance, so that these may foster peace, promote national joy, enhance productivity, temperance, and useful knowledge, ensuring for us the blessing of equal freedom. We also pray for the Governor of this state, the members of the Assembly, the judges, magistrates, and all those appointed to oversee our political well-being, that through your mighty protection, they can fulfill their duties with integrity and capability. We commend to your boundless mercy all our fellow citizens across the United States, that they may experience your blessings in understanding and sanctified by the observance of your sacred law; may they be kept united and enjoy that peace which only you can provide; and after partaking in the blessings of this life, be welcomed into the eternal ones.Amen.
