Prayer Before A Crucifix

Look upon me, O most loving and gentle Jesus. I kneel before You, filled with the deepest longing of my heart. I earnestly pray and implore You to engrave within my heart vibrant feelings of faith, hope, and charity, along with sincere remorse for my sins and a resolute wish to change. As I reflect with heartfelt love and sorrow, I contemplate Your five most precious wounds, reminding myself of what David, the prophet, said long ago in Your own voice, my Jesus: "They have pierced My hands and My feet; they have counted all My bones." [Psalm 21, 17, 18] Next, let us pray the "Our Father..." "Hail Mary..." "Glory Be..." for the Catholic Church and for the intentions of the Holy Father. (A plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, may be obtained by those who pray this with devotion before an image of our crucified Redeemer. A partial indulgence may also be granted for each devout recitation.)
