Prayer Before Mass
O merciful Father, whose love for humanity is so profound that You gave Your beloved Son for our salvation; He, in His obedience to You, humbled Himself even to the death on the Cross and continues to offer Himself each day through His Priests for both the living and the deceased. We earnestly implore You that, filled with vibrant faith, we may with the highest devotion and respect participate in the offering of His most precious Body and Blood during Mass, thus becoming part of the sacrifice He completed on Calvary. In unity with Your Holy Church and its ministers, while invoking the blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, and all the Angels and Saints, we now present the glorious sacrifice of the Mass for Your honor and glory, acknowledging Your infinite perfections, Your supreme authority over all creation, and our complete submission and dependence on You. We offer our gratitude for all Your blessings and the forgiveness of our sins. We present this offering for the spread of the Catholic Faith, for our Holy Father the Pope, for our Archbishop (or Bishop), and for all the Pastors and Clergy of Your Holy Church, that they may guide the faithful towards salvation. We pray for the King (or Queen) and all in positions of authority, that we may live peaceful and holy lives; for goodwill and peace among all nations and peoples; for the needs of all humanity, especially for this Congregation gathered here; to receive all the blessings necessary for this life, eternal happiness in the next, and everlasting rest for the faithful departed. As Jesus Christ established at His Last Supper this marvelous mystery of His power, wisdom, and goodness, we offer the Mass in thankful remembrance of all He has endured and accomplished out of love for us, especially commemorating His suffering, death, glorious Resurrection, and Ascension into Heaven. We humbly beseech You, Almighty and Eternal God, to whom alone worship through sacrifice is owed, graciously accept this offering for these intentions and all others that align with Your holy will. To further enhance its acceptability, we present it to You through the same Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, our Lord and Savior, our High Priest and Victim, and in the name of the most Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; to You be honor, praise, and glory, forever and ever.Amen.
