Prayer For The Church The Authorities, Etc...

We beseech You, O Almighty and Everlasting God, who through Your Son, Jesus Christ, have manifested Your glory to all people, to safeguard the deeds of Your mercy; may Your Church, spread throughout the globe, maintain unwavering faith in the confession of Your name. We ask You, who alone are good and holy, to bless with divine understanding, genuine zeal, and holy living our chief bishop, N., the Vicar of our Lord Jesus Christ in overseeing His Church; our own Bishop, (or Archbishop,) N., (if he has not yet been consecrated, our Bishop-elect); all other Bishops, Prelates, and Pastors of the Church; and particularly those called to serve in the sacred ministry among us, guiding Your people in the paths of salvation. We pray to You, O God of strength, wisdom, and justice, through whom rightful authority is exercised, laws are established and judgments made. Grant assistance, through Your Holy Spirit of counsel and strength, to the President of the United States, that his leadership may be marked by righteousness and greatly beneficial to Your people, whom he serves, by fostering respect for virtue and religion; ensuring the faithful execution of laws with justice and mercy; and by curbing vice and immorality. May the light of Your divine wisdom guide the deliberations of Congress and illuminate the proceedings and legislation for our governance, so that they may promote peace, increase national well-being, enhance industriousness, sobriety, and knowledge, and secure for us the blessing of equal freedom. We also pray for the Governor of this State, for the members of the Assembly, for all Judges, Magistrates, and other officials tasked with safeguarding our political well-being; that, through Your powerful protection, they may fulfill their responsibilities with integrity and competence. We extend our prayers to Your infinite mercy for all our brothers and fellow citizens across the United States, that they may be enriched with knowledge and sanctified in adhering to Your most holy laws; that they may be kept in unity and in peace that the world cannot provide; and after enjoying the blessings of this life, may they be welcomed into those eternal joys. Finally, we implore You, O merciful Lord, to remember the souls of Your departed servants who have preceded us bearing the sign of faith and now rest in peace: the souls of our parents, relatives, and friends; of those who were members of this congregation; and especially of those who have recently passed; of all benefactors who, through their gifts or legacies to this Church, demonstrated their devotion to the dignity of divine worship and earned our lasting gratitude and remembrance. To these, O Lord, and to all who rest in Christ, grant, we ask You, a place of refreshment, light, and eternal peace, through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.Amen.
