Prayer For The Conversion Of England

O merciful God, may the radiant intercession of Your saints support us, especially the most blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Your only Son, and Your holy Apostles, Peter and Paul, to whom we humbly entrust this nation. Remember our forebears, Eleutherius, Celestine, and Gregory, bishops of the Holy City; of Augustine, Columba, and Aidan, who faithfully preserved for us the teachings of the Holy Roman Church. We recall our holy martyrs, who gave their lives for Christ: especially our first martyr, Saint Alban, and Your most glorious bishop, Saint Thomas of Canterbury. Consider all those holy confessors; bishops, kings, holy monks and hermits, and all those virtuous virgins and widows, who transformed this land into an island of saints, renowned for their remarkable merits and virtues. May their memory endure before You, O Lord, and let their prayers continually reach Your presence; and You, who have so often forgiven Your sinful people for the sake of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, now, stirred by our forefathers' prayers, co-ruling with You, have compassion on us, save Your people, and bless Your inheritance; and let not those souls perish, which Your Son has redeemed with His most Precious Blood, Who lives and reigns with You, forever and ever. Amen. Let us pray. O most loving Lord Jesus, Who, in Your agony upon the Cross, committed us all through Your disciple John to Your most gentle Mother, that we might find Our refuge, Our comfort, and Our hope in her; look kindly upon our cherished country, and on those who lack such powerful protection; that, once more acknowledging the greatness of this holy Virgin, they may honor and cherish her with all earnest devotion, and accept her as Queen and Mother. May her sweet name be spoken by the little ones, and dwell upon the lips of the aged and sick; and may it be called upon by those who suffer, and sung by the joyful; that this Star of the Sea may be their shield and guide, and all may arrive at the harbor of eternal salvation.
