Prayer For The Fifth Week Of Lent
(This prayer is to be recited within the family before a Crucifix during the fifth week of Lent.) Mother or a child: From a homily of Pope St. Leo. Beloved in Christ, the Apostle Paul teaches us: "If we share in Christ's suffering, we shall also share in His glory. Thus, anyone who partakes in the trials of our Savior holds a steadfast assurance of the glory He has promised." Father: Hail, O Cross, Family: you are the sole hope of humanity. Father: Let us pray. Almighty God, look with favor upon Your family: it is our deep desire that Your abundant grace cares for our bodies and that Your providence guards our souls. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Family: Amen. Bless this home, O Lord, with Your presence. Reject all the snares of the evil one from our midst. May Your holy angels dwell here, keeping us in peace. And may Your blessing always rest upon us. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Father: Let us give thanks to the Lord. Family: Thanks be to God. Father: May the all-powerful and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless and protect us. Family:Amen.
