Prayer In Sorrow For Sin

Lord Jesus, hanging upon the Cross, I turn my tearful and ashamed gaze towards you. You have blessed me beyond measure, yet I have added to your suffering and death. My hands have participated in your scourging, my voice joined those who denied you and called for your crucifixion, my mind was involved in your crowning with thorns, my sins forced the nails into your hands and feet, and the lance into your side. Beloved Lord, I ask your forgiveness for all these transgressions. You are magnificent, glorious, and infinitely loving; I feel so small, self-centered, and hopelessly sinful. Yet, I sincerely repent for my offenses, and by the Blood you shed during your Passion, I implore your mercy and a portion of your love and grace.Amen.
