Prayer Of Forgiveness

devotional
The prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, I come before you today seeking to let go of all grudges I hold against those in my life. I trust that You will grant me the fortitude to forgive, and I am grateful for Your deep love for me, more profound than my own, your desire for my happiness surpassing my own. Father, I forgive You for the instances of loss that have touched my family, the difficulties we faced, and the financial struggles we endured. I let go of the feelings of bitterness that arose when people attributed these trials to Your will, as I struggled with resentment towards You. Purify my heart and mind this day. Lord, I release myself from the weight of my sins, shortcomings, and perceived flaws, and from anything I deem unworthy within me. I renounce my involvement in superstitions, including the use of ouija boards, horoscopes, attending seances, fortune-telling, or carrying charms for luck. I reject these and choose You as my sole Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. I also forgive myself for misusing Your name, for not honoring You by attending church, for my wrongdoings towards my parents, for indulgences in drunkenness, infidelity, and actions contrary to Your teachings. You have granted me Your forgiveness; today, I offer myself forgiveness. I also forgive myself for past abortions, thefts, dishonest acts, and any harm to others’ reputations. I sincerely forgive my mother for every moment of hurt, resentment, and anger she directed at me, and for any punishment I received. I let go of the times she favored my siblings, her harsh words calling me names like dumb or ugly, and for making me feel like a burden or unwanted. I forgive her for labeling me as an accident or disappointment. I forgive my father for any lack of support, affection, or time, and for his absence in my life, for his struggles with alcohol, arguments, and the impact his actions had on our family. For any harsh treatment or desertion, I extend my forgiveness. Lord, I offer forgiveness to my siblings, those who have wronged me, lied about me, or competed for parental love, those who have caused me pain, who have been harsh in their treatment of me. I forgive my spouse for any lack of affection, consideration, or communication, for any words or actions that have caused me distress. Jesus, I forgive my children for their disobedience, affordance, or any actions that distress me, for their distancing from the church and questionable behaviors. My God, I forgive my in-laws, for any lack of love exhibited by them, for their actions or thoughts that have caused hurt. Please assist me in forgiving my extended family, my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, those who may have interfered or caused discord amongst us. Jesus, grant me the strength to forgive my coworkers, those who create difficulties or spread negativity, and those who have burdened me by pushing their tasks onto me. I choose to forgive my neighbors, for disturbances they may bring, for neglecting their responsibilities, or for any prejudicial behavior towards our community. I forgive all clergy and church institutions, for their shortcomings, lack of support, or insensitivity, for any pain they might have inflicted on me or my family. Lord, I release all those who hold opposing views, those who have ridiculed or discriminated against me, or placed me in any unfavorable position. I forgive those of differing faiths who have pressured me, tried to convert me, or clashed with my beliefs. For those who have harmed me because of my background, who have mocked or disrespected my ethnicity, and for any injuries they caused to my family, I extend my forgiveness today. I forgive all professionals who have caused me pain, doctors, nurses, lawyers, judges, and service workers who have taken advantage of me. I forgive my employer for any grievances I have suffered, for not recognizing my efforts, or for any unkindness I've encountered. I release my past and present teachers, those who may have punished or belittled me, for making me feel inadequate or humiliated. I truly forgive them. I also forgive my friends who have disappointed me, those who have lost touch, or failed to support me in times of need. Lord Jesus, I earnestly ask for the grace to forgive the person who has hurt me most profoundly, who stands as my greatest adversary, the one I struggle to forgive. I humbly seek forgiveness from all those I have wronged, especially my parents and partners, and I regret the deepest hurts I have caused. Thank You, Jesus, for freeing me from the chains of unforgiveness. May Your Holy Spirit illuminate my heart, cleansing every dark corner of my mind.Amen.
