Prayer Of Pope Paul Vi You Are Our Mother
O Mary, gaze upon the Church, see the diligent members of the Mystical Body of Christ who gather around you, expressing gratitude to celebrate you as their Mystical Mother. O Mary, bless the great assembly of the Church’s hierarchy, who, in turn, brings forth brothers and sisters of Christ, the firstborn among the redeemed. O Mary, grace this Church of Christ, that as it defines its identity, it may recognize you as its most beloved mother, daughter, and sister, it’s incomparable model, its glory, joy, and hope. We ask you now to make us worthy of honoring you for who you are and for your role in the marvelous and loving plan of salvation. Grant us the ability to praise you, O holy Virgin! O Mary, watch over us, your children, look upon us, your brothers and sisters, disciples and apostles, continuing the mission of Jesus. Awaken us to our noble calling and mission; may we be worthy to embody, in our priestly duties, in our words, in the offering of our lives for those entrusted to us, the representation and personification of Christ. O you who are full of grace, let the priesthood that honors you be holy and unblemished as well. O Mary, we lift our prayers for our Christian brothers and sisters who remain separated from our Catholic family. Observe how a faithful and loving group among them celebrates your devotion. Recognize also those who, but still claim the name of Christians, are beginning to remember and honor you, O most holy Lady. Call these children of yours to the unity of faith under your maternal and heavenly guidance. O Mary, look upon all humanity, this modern world where the Divine Will calls us to live and work. It is a world that has turned away from the light of Christ; it fears and laments the daunting shadows erased by its own actions. May your gentle voice, O most beautiful of virgins, O most worthy of mothers, O blessed among women, invite the world to turn its gaze toward the life that is the light of man, toward you, who illuminate the way to Christ, who is the only and highest Light of the world. Implore for the world a true understanding of its existence; implore for the world the joy of living as God's creation, and the yearning and ability to converse with its Creator through prayer, whose mysterious and blessed image it reflects within. Implore for the world the grace to regard all as gifts from God and develop the virtue of working generously and wisely with such gifts. Implore peace for the world. Unite those divided, lead us towards a more harmonious and peaceful society. For those who suffer, now more than ever, afflicted by various misfortunes, grant comfort; and for the deceased, grant eternal rest. Reveal yourself as a mother to us; this we ask, O gentle, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!Amen.
