Prayer Of Pope Pius Xii To Our Lady Of The Assumption

devotional
The prayer

O Pure Virgin, Mother of God and of all humanity, we wholeheartedly believe in your glorious Assumption, both body and soul, into heaven, where you are honored as Queen by the heavenly hosts of angels and all the saints. We join with them in prayer and praise for the Lord who has elevated you above all the created beings, and we offer you our love and devotion. We trust that your gaze, which on earth watched over the humble and suffering Jesus, is now filled with the sight of His glorified humanity and uncreated Wisdom. The joy of your soul, contemplating the Holy Trinity, fills your heart with deep tenderness. We, who are burdened by our sins and the weight of our bodies, implore you to purify our hearts. May we, while we remain on this earth, learn to see God in His creations. We ask that your merciful eyes look upon our struggles and sorrows, our trials and weaknesses; that you may smile on our joys and triumphs. May you hear Jesus' voice, who called us as His own, like He did for His beloved disciple, saying: “Behold your son.” We, who refer to you as our Mother, take you as our guide, strength, and comfort throughout our earthly journey. We are assured that your compassionate eyes, which wept over Jesus’ bloodshed, remain attentive to our world plagued by conflict and injustice, the oppression of the righteous and the meek. We seek your heavenly aid, tender mercy, and comfort for our grieving hearts, as well as support in the challenges faced by the Church and our nations. Lastly, we believe that in the glory of your reign, adorned with light and crowned with stars, you bring joy and happiness to all the angels and saints next to Jesus. As we traverse this world, guided by our faith in the promise of the resurrection, we look to you, our life, sweetness, and hope. Lead us with the tenderness of your voice, so that one day, following our exile, you may present to us Jesus, the blessed fruit of your womb. O merciful, loving, sweet Virgin Mary.Amen.
