Prayer Of Reparation Of Saint Theresa
I adore and exalt You, O my Divine Jesus, Son of the living God, and I long to make amends for all the offenses that I, the most wretched of Your creatures, have inflicted upon You through all the members of Your Blessed Body, and especially upon Your beloved Face. Hail, venerated Face, disfigured by spittle and barely recognizable due to the savage treatment you endured at the hands of the wicked Jews. I greet You, O Blessed Eyes, all drenched in tears, which You shed for our salvation. I greet You, O Blessed Ears, assaulted by blasphemies, insults, and cruel taunts. I greet You, O Blessed Mouth, filled with grace and compassion for poor sinners, yet tormented with vinegar and gall by the monstrous ingratitude of the people You chose from all nations. In reparation for all these humiliations, I present to You all the reverence offered to You in that holy place where You are honored with special worship, uniting myself with it. At the sight of Your Most Holy Face, dear Jesus, so marred by injuries, I echo St. Augustine's plea: "Lord Jesus, inscribe upon my heart Your sacred wounds, that I may read therein both Your sorrow and Your love; Your sorrow, so that I may endure any suffering for You." O Sorrowful Jesus, when we come before Your Adorable Face to plead for the grace we require, we ask You most importantly to align the inner workings of our souls so that we may never deny You and all that You yourself desire from us through Your holy commandments. Praise be to You, O Jesus Christ, for the most Sacred Grief of Your beloved Face. Through this Sacred Grief and by Your most Sacred Passion, forgive all the sins I have committed against You, in thought, word, and action, and all my neglect in Your service, and all lustful desires for which I have been at fault, whether in sleep or awake. Grant that I may always remember with devotion Your most sorrowful sufferings endured in Your Sacred Face. Bestow upon me the grace to discipline my body, and so to provide a testament of my gratitude to You, Who lives and reigns forever and ever.Amen.
