Prayer To Obtain Confidence In The Merits Of Jesus Christ And In The Intercession Of Mary

Eternal Father, I express my gratitude for myself and for all humanity for the immense mercy You have shown us by sending Your Son to become man and to suffer for our salvation. I wish to offer You a thanksgiving for this unfathomable gift, presenting to You all the love that is owed for it. Through His merits, our sins are forgiven, and Your justice is fulfilled concerning the punishment we have rightfully deserved. By these merits, You welcome us, wretched sinners, into Your grace, even when we deserve only condemnation. You invite humanity to share in the joys of Paradise. In light of these merits, You have promised to grant all gifts and graces to those who seek them in the name of Jesus Christ. I also thank You, O Infinite Goodness, for strengthening our hope by not only sending Jesus Christ as our Redeemer but also giving us Your beloved daughter Mary as our advocate. With her heart filled with mercy, she tirelessly assists any sinner who turns to her. Her intercession with You is so potent that You cannot refuse any grace she petitions on behalf of others. Therefore, it is Your desire that we possess unwavering confidence in the merits of Jesus and in the intercession of Mary. This confidence, a precious gift, can only be given to those who earnestly seek it from You. I beseech You, grant me this confidence in the Blood of Jesus Christ and the support of Mary, through the merits of both. To You, dear Redeemer, I turn; it was for this very confidence in Your merits that You endured the sacrifice of the Cross for me, who am deserving only of punishment. Please fulfill the purpose for which You died; grant me the hope I need, trusting in Your Passion. And you, O Mary, my mother and hope after Jesus, please grant me steadfast confidence, first in the merits of Your Son Jesus, and also through your powerful prayers, which are able to secure all that you request. O my cherished Jesus! O sweet Mary! I place my trust in You. My soul I commit to You; You love it dearly, have mercy upon it, and bring about its salvation.
