Prayer While Shopping During Advent

Loving God, as I review my list for gift shopping, I present to you each name on it. One by one, I invite your abundant love to ignite within them. I hope the gifts I choose will bring happiness to their lives. Yet, guide me to maintain balance during this season, Lord. Help me to keep my spending in check, avoiding excess that I cannot sustain. Assist me in resisting worldly pressures and remind me that love cannot be measured by the money spent. I ask you to keep in my thoughts the countless individuals who possess far less materially. Grant me the wisdom to make purchases that do not add to the burdens of those affected by our economy. Additionally, dear God, help me carve out moments of stillness amidst the hustle of each day, whether I’m shopping, traveling on public transport, or rushing along the streets; allow these instances to remind me of your profound love for me, allowing me to rejoice in it.Amen.
