Prayers After Confession

What gratitude do I not owe to You, my God! Not only for creating me, redeeming me, and calling me into the embrace of Your Church, but even more for patiently awaiting my return while I strayed from You along the wretched paths of sin; for forgiving me so frequently, as I hope You have done today, and for keeping me safe from numerous other sins I could have committed without Your gracious protection. Yet, my adversaries will continue to tempt me until death, and without Your support, alas! I will soon fall back into offending You more gravely than before. Therefore, grant me, through the merits of Jesus Christ, the invaluable gift of perseverance until the end. The Divine Savior has promised us that all we ask in His Name, You will fulfill. I implore You, then, through all that Your beloved Son endured for me, never to allow me to abandon You again. I have great confidence that if I persist in seeking this grace, I will receive it because You have assured us that You will hear our prayers. Yet, I fear that in some moment of carelessness, I might forget my reliance on You, neglect to seek Your assistance, and fall back into my previous despair. Thus, grant that in every trial, I may turn to You immediately by calling on the holy Names of Jesus and Mary. In this way, O my Lord, I can trust I will die in Your grace, and love You for eternity in heaven, where I will never be separated from You, consumed by the fire of Your holy love for all time.Amen.
