In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Hope in Suffering Damien's life and work demonstrated that suffering could be transformative. His own affliction with leprosy did not deter him; rather, he continued to embody hope for the residents of Kalaupapa. By witnessing to his faith in the midst of pain, he illustrated how suffering can lead to a deeper relationship with God. St. Damien, let your example inspire us to find hope even in our sufferings. Teach us to embrace our struggles as an opportunity to grow closer to God and to support others in their trials. May we shine the light of hope in times of darkness.
