In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The Early Trials of Juan de Yepes St. John of the Cross, born Juan de Yepes in Fontiveros, faced hardship early in life, including the loss of his father and his family's subsequent struggles. These early trials instilled in him a deep compassion for the suffering, shaping his spiritual journey toward union with God. Through these experiences, he learned perseverance, a quality that would define his later works and teachings. O St. John of the Cross, you faced great adversities from a young age, nurturing compassion in your heart. Through your trials, teach us to embrace our own struggles with a spirit of perseverance and faith.
