In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Imprisonment and Suffering in Toledo In 1577, St. John faced severe opposition that led to his imprisonment in Toledo for nine months. During this time of isolation and suffering, he wrote some of his most profound poetry, including 'The Dark Night of the Soul.' His ability to find God in suffering offers us a powerful lesson on the transformative power of trials. O St. John of the Cross, during your time of imprisonment, you found inspiration in the depths of darkness. Help us to recognize the beauty of God’s presence amidst our own trials. May we learn to embrace suffering as a pathway to growth and deeper intimacy with the Lord. Pray for us in our hardships, guiding us to find light in the darkness.
