However, it also set the stage for the fateful conflict between church and state that would define his legacy. O Saint Thomas, wise Chancellor, you navigated the complexities of courtly life with grace. May your example inspire us to use our own gifts for the greater good, always seeking justice in our endeavors. Guide us to stand firm for what is right, even against the tide of opposition.
