Thanks To My Guardian Angel

O Guardian Angel, my beloved protector, into whose care I was entrusted by my Creator since the day of my birth, I join you in giving thanks to the Almighty for the gift of your friendship, guidance, advocacy, and protection. Please accept, kind guide, my heartfelt gratitude for all you have accomplished for me; especially for the care with which you have accompanied me throughout my life; for the joy you experienced when I was cleansed in the waters of Baptism; and for your vigilant concern in safeguarding my purity. You are aware of the countless graces and blessings bestowed upon me by my Creator through you, and of the many dangers, both spiritual and temporal, from which you have spared me. You know well how often you have mourned my transgressions, encouraged me to seek repentance, and interceded with God for my forgiveness. Alas! Why have I been so undeserving of your ongoing dedication to my salvation? Why have I so frequently sullied my soul with sin, rendering myself unworthy of the presence and protection of such a pure and sinless spirit as you? Yet, though my ingratitude and negligence have not lessened your loving concern for my salvation, so shall they not weaken my trust in your goodness or deter me from relying on you, for God Himself has appointed you to guard my soul. Filled with sorrow for my lack of progress in virtue, despite being blessed with your guidance, and with sincere resolve to cooperate in the future with your efforts for my salvation, I earnestly beseech you, O protecting spirit, to persist in your devoted labor for my eternal good; to strengthen my frailty, to protect me from the countless dangers of this world, and through your powerful prayers, to ensure that my life may be taken before I should commit a grave sin. Remember, most joyous spirit, that it was a single act of profound humility, paired with passionate love for your Creator, that secured your eternal glory; please obtain that those virtues may be ingrained in my soul, and inspire me to earnestly seek to develop the qualities of humility, obedience, gentleness, and purity of heart. Guide me safely through this journey of sin and sorrow; guard me in the dreadful hour of my death; perform for my soul the last act of charity entrusted to you, by fortifying, encouraging, and supporting me in the struggles of my final moments, and then, like the angel Raphael who led Tobias home to his father, do thou, my cherished angel and blessed guide, return with me to Him who sent you, that we may together praise Him and proclaim His marvelous deeds for a joyful eternity.Amen.
