The Prayer "A Renewal Of The Baptismal Vows"
O Lord my God, I bow before Your Divine Majesty with deep humility. I praise Your supreme justice and boundless mercy. I am filled with dread as I reflect on Your fearsome judgments and my own grave ingratitude for Your blessings, having been made one of Your children through baptism and elevated to the noble calling of a Christian, allowed to enjoy eternal union with You in heaven. At that moment, I did not grasp the precious grace You bestowed upon me or the serious commitments I assumed when I vowed to turn away from the devil, the world, and the flesh. But now I fully understand; I sincerely thank You for guiding me to the waters of baptism, and from the depths of my heart, I despise all thoughts, words, and deeds that have been unworthy of my Christian identity. You know, O God, how often I have soiled the garment of innocence with which I was adorned and how frequently I have broken my sacred commitments; yet You see the sorrow of my heart and the genuine intent with which I once again declare, before heaven and earth, my faith in the truths taught by the Holy Catholic Church, alongside the vows made on my behalf at my baptism. I wholeheartedly believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was born and suffered for us; in the Holy Spirit; in the holy Catholic Church; in the Communion of Saints; in the forgiveness of sins; in the resurrection of the body, and in everlasting life. I renounce the world with all its allurements, its vanities, and its false teachings, which I reject because they are cursed by You. I turn away from the flesh, with its enticements, and I genuinely resolve to correct my faults, to overcome my passions, and to give up everything most precious to me rather than tarnish that robe I promised to keep unsullied before the judgment seat of Christ. O my loving God, who cherished me even before I could love You and bestowed upon my soul the merits of Jesus Christ when I could not ask for that grace, look kindly upon me and grant me the strength to fulfill my baptismal vows without fault. Deepen in my soul the heavenly gifts of faith, hope, and charity that I received at baptism, and guide me to let faith govern my life, so that it may lead me to eternal life; through the infinite mercies and merits of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who, along with You and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, forever.Amen.
