The Prayer O Lord Forgive

In moments when I have not lived up to my own principles: O Lord, have mercy! In times of self-deception amidst the lures of temptation: O Lord, have mercy! When I opted for lesser choices despite knowing the greater good: O Lord, have mercy! In my failure to hold myself to the same ethical standards I expect of others: O Lord, have mercy! In my unawareness of the pain of others while ignoring my own: O Lord, have mercy! In my indifference toward injustices that do not directly affect me and my excessive sensitivity regarding those that do: O Lord, have mercy! In my hesitation to recognize the goodness in others while easily seeing the faults within myself: O Lord, have mercy! In my reluctance to be lenient towards my neighbor's imperfections while justifying my own: O Lord, have mercy! In my resistance to accept that You have assigned me a humble task while elevating my brother to a higher calling: O Lord, have mercy!
