Aleksy Sobaszek

Aleksy Sobaszek was born on December 26, 1912, in Osiek, Poland. Raised in a devout Catholic family, his early life was steeped in the rich traditions of the faith. Aleksy felt a strong calling to the priesthood, which led him to study theology at the seminary. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1938, and soon began his pastoral work, emphasizing the importance of community and spiritual guidance.

As World War II erupted, Poland found itself under the brutal occupation of Nazi Germany. The horrors of war quickly descended upon the country, and Aleksy, like many of his fellow priests, faced immense challenges. Despite the risks, he committed himself to serving his parishioners, providing not only spiritual support but also humanitarian aid. His compassion and dedication brought solace to many suffering under the oppressive regime.

In 1940, Aleksy was detained by the Nazis, accused of fostering resistance against the occupation. His unwavering faith and loyalty to Christ were evident even in the direst circumstances.
