Angela Salawa

Angela Salawa was born on January 15, 1881, in the small village of Aksakówka, Poland. Growing up in a devout Catholic family, she was deeply influenced by her faith from a young age. With the outbreak of World War I in 1914, Angela's life took a pivotal turn. As the war escalated, she witnessed the tremendous suffering and devastation around her. This ignited a deep passion within her to assist the sick and wounded. She became a tireless volunteer in hospitals, helping care for soldiers and civilians affected by the war. Her selflessness and dedication earned her the nickname "Angel of the Battlefield."

Angela worked alongside other volunteers and medical staff, providing comfort through her compassionate actions.
