Anna Kaworek

Anna Kaworek was born on April 27, 1891, in the small Polish village of Rzgów. Growing up in a devout Catholic family, Anna learned the value of faith and service from a young age. She was deeply inspired by the lives of saints and felt a strong call to consecrate her life to God. After finishing school, she joined a convent, taking the religious name Sister Anna of St. Joseph.

In 1925, during her time in the convent, Anna recognized the need for education among Polish children, particularly in rural areas. Her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds led her to establish the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. With a focus on both spiritual and academic development, her convent became a center of learning and support for many families in need.

Anna faced numerous obstacles in her pursuit. The political climate in Poland during her lifetime was turbulent, with wars and socio-economic challenges affecting everyday life. Yet, she remained undeterred, drawing strength from her faith. Her deep spirituality shined as she encouraged her fellow sisters to embrace the principles of charity, humility, and perseverance.
