Archangela Girlani

Archangela Girlani was born in 1450 in Italy, in the small town of Mantua. She came from a devout family, instilling in her a deep love for God and a yearning for a life devoted to faith. At a young age, Archangela felt a calling to the religious life, and by the age of 20, she joined the Poor Clares, a branch of the Franciscan Order. However, drawn to an even deeper contemplative life, she later transitioned to the Carmelite Order, becoming a nun.

Archangela's life as a Carmelite was marked by her intense spirituality. She dedicated countless hours to prayer and contemplation, seeking union with God through her mystical experiences. Her commitment to her spiritual practices distinguished her among her peers, and she began to receive extraordinary visions and insights that she believed came from the Lord. These experiences deepened her relationship with God and provided her with a profound understanding of divine love.

Throughout her life, Archangela entrusted herself to the will of God, embracing a simple yet fervent lifestyle that reflected her inner devotion. In 1762, Archangela was beatified, and her feast day was established on January 25, the anniversary of her death.
