Bruno the Great

Bruno the Great was born around 975 in the region of modern-day Germany. He was a member of the noble family of the Counts of Cologne, which positioned him strongly within the ecclesiastical and temporal leadership of the time. From a young age, Bruno was drawn to the spiritual life, and he pursued his education at the Abbey of Saint Gall, a center of learning known for its rich intellectual environment. In 1021, Bruno became the Bishop of Cologne, and it was in this role that he truly distinguished himself.
