Camille de Soyécourt

St. Camille de Soyécourt was born in France in 1773, into a family that valued faith and service. From a young age, she demonstrated a deep love for the poor and a commitment to her spiritual life, influenced by the charity of her parents. As she grew, Camille felt a strong calling to dedicate her life to God and the needs of others, leading her to join a religious congregation.

Her journey was marked by devotion and resilience. During the turbulent years of the French Revolution, when many religious orders faced persecution, Camille remained steadfast in her faith. In 1792, she officially became a member of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, a community committed to serving the most marginalized. It was during this time that Camille truly blossomed as a compassionate leader, organizing efforts to care for the sick and impoverished in her community.

Throughout her life, Camille encountered numerous challenges. The disarray caused by political upheaval put immense pressure on charitable organizations. Yet, she persisted, embodying the virtues of patience, humility, and unwavering love.
