Constance of Sicily

Constance of Sicily, born in 1154, was a daughter of the powerful Norman King Roger II of Sicily. Raised amidst the intrigues and complexities of the Sicilian court, she was well-educated and cultivated a strong sense of duty. Her lineage linked her to two significant royal families: her father’s heritage and her mother’s, who was a member of the German imperial house. In 1174, Constance married King Henry of Aragon, thus becoming Queen Consort.
