Elena Aiello

Elena Aiello was born on February 10, 1910, in the small Italian town of Castrolibero, Calabria. From a young age, she felt a deep spiritual calling and a profound love for God. Encouraged by her faith, she often engaged in prayer and sought to understand God's purpose for her life. As a teenager, she exhibited a strong commitment to rendering service to others, particularly through charitable acts within her community.

After completing her education, Elena pursued her vocation and joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Castrovillari in 1927. She took her religious vows in 1931, fully dedicating her life to God and her fellow human beings. During her years as a sister, she became known for her exceptional spirituality and dedication to prayer, which drew many people to her light.

Elena's life was not devoid of trials. She faced significant physical ailments, yet she accepted her struggles with grace, seeing them as a means to deepen her union with God. Her spirituality was marked by moments of mystical experience, including visions, which she believed were a call to guide others in their faith. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 14, 1994, recognizing her profound spirituality and the impact of her life on the Church. Today, she is remembered not only as a dedicated religious sister but also as an intercessor whom many turn to in their times of need. Her feast day is celebrated on June 19, a day dedicated to honoring her life of faith, love, and service.
