Eustáquio van Lieshout

Eustáquio van Lieshout was born on March 29, 1874, in the Netherlands, into a devout family that nurtured his early interest in faith and service. His upbringing, grounded in Catholic values, laid the foundation for his spiritual journey. Eustáquio felt called to the priesthood from a young age and pursued this vocation with great determination. After completing his theological studies, he was ordained a priest in 1900.

In 1902, Eustáquio left the comfort of his homeland to serve as a missionary in Brazil, where he became pastor of the parish in the small town of São João Nepomuceno. Upon his arrival, he was moved by the spiritual needs of the local community and dedicated himself entirely to their formation and growth. Eustáquio's focus was not only on providing sacramental services but also on fostering a deep spiritual life among his parishioners. He engaged in catechesis, taught the catechism to children, and instructed adults in the faith.

Throughout his years in Brazil, Eustáquio exhibited remarkable compassion, tirelessly working for the betterment of his community.
