Francis Serrano

Francis Serrano was born in Spain in the early 19th century, a time when the Catholic Church was facing significant challenges due to the rise of secularism and anti-religious sentiment across Europe. He entered the Dominican Order, drawn by the call to preach the Gospel and serve the marginalized. His commitment to religious life led him to pursue missionary work, which he believed was crucial for the spiritual well-being of souls.

In 1861, he traveled to the Philippines, where he would dedicate himself to the mission field. Francis Serrano primarily served in Mindanao, a region known for its diverse culture and native population with varying religious beliefs.
