Franciscana Cirer

Franciscana Cirer was born in 1859 in the town of Alcira, Spain. From a young age, she exhibited a deep commitment to her faith and a heartfelt compassion for those in need. Growing up in a time when social and economic disparities were rampant, Franciscana felt the call to serve the marginalized and the poor.

After her family's support and encouragement, she joined the Sisters of Charity of Valencia, where she was trained in the values of service and education. Her experiences there laid the foundation for her life's work. Franciscana quickly recognized that many children were left without proper education and care, often due to their family's poverty. This realization ignited a passion within her to create a nurturing environment for those most vulnerable.

In 1895, moved by her desire to help, she founded the Congregation of the Sisters of the Divine Pastor, aimed specifically at providing education and spiritual guidance to impoverished young people. Under her leadership, the congregation flourished, opening schools and orphanages that catered to the needs of countless children. Her efforts contributed significantly to improving the social conditions in her community, instilling values of faith and service in those she served.

Despite the challenges of the political climate and immense societal need, Franciscana never wavered in her commitment.
