Despite her illness, which included bouts of partial paralysis, Julie remained devoted to her vision of female education. In 1804, she finally found a way to begin her work beyond her immediate circumstances. With four companions, she founded the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Amiens, France. The community aimed to provide a Christian education to young girls, particularly those from poor backgrounds.
Julie’s approach to education emphasized not just academic learning, but also moral and spiritual growth.
